What is the AGCP

The AGCP is a volunteer organization first and foremost.

The mission of the AGCP is education.
  1. Educate our members to be better club fitters.
  2. Educate our members to be better club builders.
  3. Educate our members to be better businessmen.
  4. Educate our members to give something back to other members.
  5. Educate our members to give something back to the community.
  6. Educate our members to give something back to the game of golf.
  7. Educate our members to work with other professionals in the game of golf to promote golf and make it a more enjoyable game through better fitted equipment.

This page offers a few facts about the AGCP that you may not be aware of. The AGCP although a private LLC (corporation), is operated almost totally by using volunteers for all of our critical work.

The AGCP pays no salaries to anyone and never has.
Helpers are given bonuses after the Roundtable because they are often required to work 15 to 20 hour days the weeks prior to and after the Roundtable.

The AGCP pays no rent payment, all space used by the AGCP is provided by On Time Services, Inc. or McNix Golf, the family businesses of Roy & Linda Nix.

The staff of the AGCP consists of Roy Nix, Linda Nix, their sons Daniel & David McMahon and Mick Howe.

All salaries for staff are paid by On Time Services, Inc. and not by the AGCP.

The staff does all of the administrative work and day to day work of the AGCP, all teachers at the Roundtable are AGCP members and volunteers also. And, like other members they pay registration and pay their own expenses to attend the Roundtable, so they can teach their classes for other members. Some guest speakers may get their rooms and meals paid for by the AGCP for being kind enough to travel here at their own expense to talk to fellow members and help them learn.

For these reasons we ask all members to please be patient with us when you request information or a service from one of the staff. Please remember they have to do their day job first, before they can take care of their AGCP responsibilities.

Without On Time Services, Inc. paying salaries and providing free space for the AGCP, there would be no AGCP.

We have to make sure On Time Services, Inc is successful so we can continue the AGCP. On Time Services, Inc. will always be the first priority as long as they are paying the bills for the staff and the office and classroom space for the AGCP.

Financial Information:
If you will do the math for about 120 members at an average of less than $300 each, about 20 sponsors at an average of about $1,000 each, about 60 paid registrations for the Roundtable at about $300 each and the sale of about 30 sets of DVDs each year at about $200 each which combined is the source of 95% of our revenue, and weigh that income against the cost of the rent for about 1200 square feet, the use of all the shop equipment in McNix Golf, telephones, electricity, gas, insurance and salaries for a staff of 4, plus the rent for 4 days at a convention center for the Roundtable, the cost of a TV crew for 3 days to record DVDs and edit them you will realize that if the AGCP had to be self supporting it would run out of money somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd employee and not have enough money for the other things it does. Our income for the last 3 years has been between $50,000 and $80,000. I have been told by reliable sources that Barry Palm, the last director of the PCS, was paid a salary of about $50,000. That should give you an idea of what a staff alone might cost if they had to be paid from AGCP revenues. Weigh that against an income of less than $80,000 and add in the other services provided by the AGCP and what they cost and you quickly realize the AGCP cannot sustain itself if it has to pay a staff plus all the associated expenses out of the revenues it generates each year.

The AGCP is dependent on members volunteering and sponsors supporting our cause along with the work of the staff to bring you the benefits provided for you throughout the year. Tom Wishon once estimated that the AGCP or a like organization would need a minimum of at least $300,000.00 per year in revenues to operate effectively. That would mean our 120 members would have dues of nearly $2500 a year if they were our only revenue source, nearly 10 times our current dues.

Based on reports from our members in 2010 we are effective in bringing them more business through out locater pages and through discounts negotiated with sponsors for AGCP members.

We do have dreams that one day the AGCP will have many hundreds, maybe even a thousand or more members around the world and it will be a profitable corporation. We also know that it will take years of sacrifice to get there.

For Roy Nix to build the printing business, On Time Services, Inc., from a one man shop to the family supporting business it is today, Roy often worked from 6 AM until 10 PM seven days a week alone. With only enough money to buy the business and no money for salaries Roy had to do all the work himself. That was in 1984 and today that family printing business is supporting the AGCP which has no money for salaries either.

Just as Roy believed in his dream of a successful printing business 26 years ago and was willing to make the sacrifices necessary to make his dream come true, once again Roy (along with his entire family) has a dream called the AGCP and they are willing to make sacrifices to make that dream come true too.

Today, everyone is a volunteer. Some day perhaps we will make the dream of the AGCP come true too and everyone will be paid by the AGCP and the AGCP will be a worldwide organization that everyone can be proud of promoting Custom Fitting and Custom Clubs around the world.

Meanwhile please forgive us our short comings and help us build your Clubfitters organization into the best organization in the world.

Thank you,

Roy Nix & The AGCP Staff
