Certifications Requirements for AGCP Members

There are 4 AGCP Certifications. You can apply and pay for the various tests in our store – Note: Applying for a test allows you to take the test once only. If you fail the test you will have to re-apply and pay for each attempt.

  • The AGCP’s highest level of Certification is AGCP Master of Golf Club Technology (aka Master)
  • Advanced Professional Clubfitter
  • Professional Clubmaker & Clubfitter
  • Certified Clubmaker & Clubfitter

The AGCP Professional Clubmaker & Clubfitter test and the AGCP Clubmaker & Clubfitter test are the same test and is an overall examination of a member’s complete skills in all phases. It is a test of his/her clubmaking skills and his clubfitting skills. The distinction is that the Professional has a fully equipped shot where the Certified may not have as much equipment. Any member who passes this test can fit and build clubs to a standard that exceeds most, if not nearly all, of the commercial clubfitters in retail stores and most pro shops. Customers are asked to call the shop to determine if they have the equipment needed for that customer.

To apply for the test: You must be a member of the AGCP for at least 1 year and currently be a member. Member must have achieved Certification thru PCS GCA or ICG testing, and/or has been building and/or fitting clubs for 5 or more years and/or or attended a school, Certification class, or seminars by the AGCP or one of the equipment or component manufacturers. Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts and can build to swing weight or MOI. Written and/or Verbal testing required. Member also has video capability and/or teaching capabilities. Written and/or Verbal testing required. The test is an essay exam and will be graded by an AGCP Master of Golf Club Technology to determine if the member is qualified.

The AGCP Advanced clubfitter must have a thorough knowledge of Common Sense Clubfitting and the advanced techniques as discussed on the AGCP Forum. The applicant must score 80% correct answers on the test to be awarded the Advanced Clubfitter Certification.
